The Highlights: Exploring Software Update 1.2 & 1.3

Share

We recently rolled out Software Updates 1.2 and 1.3 for Krono, bringing new personalization options, expanded Smart Dial support, reading improvements, and everyday refinements. Here’s a closer look at what’s new.

Smart Dial Beyond Native Apps

The Smart Dial now works beyond Krono's native apps. It supports a growing list of reading apps, including Kindle, Kobo Books, Google Play Books, KOReader, Pubu, and more.

💡 Quick Tip: In supported third-party reading apps, enable "volume button control" in the app's settings to use Smart Dial for page turning.

We’ve also made the physical experience completely customizable. Based directly on your feedback, we introduced the Invert Scrolling option (Settings > Smart Dial). You can now flip the wheel's scroll direction to perfectly match your personal navigation style.

More Screensaver Options

You can now choose your own images for both the screensaver and shutdown screen, giving your Krono a more personal touch. From favorite photos to artwork and quotes, what matters to you can stay on display even when the device is resting.

We've also introduced a new Transparent Screensaver mode. Choose a PNG image with a transparent background, and Krono will preserve the content that was on screen before sleep while overlaying your selected design. Transparent graphics, decorative frames, and subtle signatures can add a personal touch without obscuring the page beneath.

The clock screensaver has also become more flexible, with adjustable refresh frequency to reduce screen flashing during sleep. For those who like displaying Krono horizontally on a stand, landscape screensavers now support an inverted orientation, making it easier to position the device by letting you choose which side the Smart Dial sits on.

Reading and File Sharing, Simplified

The reading interface is now more flexible, with a new option to show or hide the reading status bar. When enabled, you can tap either side of the bar to cycle through information such as reading progress, remaining reading time, the book title, battery level, and more, while keeping the reading interface clean.

💡 Quick Tip:  The left and right sides of the reading status bar can be customized independently, letting you mix and match the information you see.

We've also improved wireless file transfer on mobile devices. Whether you're sending EPUBs, PDFs, or photos for custom screensavers, files can now be transferred more easily from your phone to Krono without needing a computer.

More Ways to Customize Krono

You can now choose which apps appear on your home screen and pin the ones you use most. A built-in Browser app is also now available for quick web access directly on the device. For Moodi users, Krono now supports custom key mapping and mode switching.

Support for Korean has also been added as a system language. In Spark, transcription now supports Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and recording file names have been improved to make voice memos easier to find and manage.
